1st Place – “Steamer” by billferris – The tonal range in the black, details in the windows, looked almost three-dimensional. In conventional terms, if the image were exposed for the detail in the blacks, the sky would blow out. The package of a stately looking subject, where the viewer can appreciate the details, kept it a favorite in the judging.
2nd Place - "A Rockwell Christmas" by drstrangelv – We reacted to the post card, illustrative feel to the image. I was like stepping back in time. HDR brought out rich detail in color. It was impressive the Christmas Tree lights didn’t blown out.
3rd Place – “Grand Canyon” by prajitr – Canyon colors jumped out at us right off the bat. The characteristics of HDR enhanced the native color of the light on the rocks, complimenting dramatic sky.
Honorable Mention – "Hob-NYC" by ckopinto – The dramatic clouds added a sinister look to the New York scene.
